Our invigilator walked in and told us that she was going to start the camera and to refrain from saying anything private since the rest of our class would be able to see and hear us, which is nerve-wracking in itself. Our chit chat immediately ceases after that and we're forced to wait for the prompts that come through the speakers.
After about 10 minutes of uncomfortable silence, the overhead announcer lets us know that our patient is about to enter the room, and sure enough, he does. He's an elderly patient and struggles to get to his seat because he almost trips over MY bag. I'm extremely nervous at this point and it just gets worse since he refuses to answer all our questions and instead just says the whole situation is his fault. At this point, my group is getting stressed and just rapidly firing questions at the poor guy. I'm trying to get any question out since my two group members are extremely chatty, but was not successful. You could feel the tension in the room mounting.
The announcer says that it's time for the patient to give us feedback and immediately everyone's shoulders fall and we all laugh and greet the actor by his real name. He didn't attack us like the other groups (we were the first group to go and they probably didn't want to traumatize the other students that early in the day). He critiqued us all and mentioned that I barely got anything to say, which I'm sure will be a hot topic in the following weeks to come when my classmates get to watch the video again and give me feedback.
I'm just glad it's over and that we weren't the unfortunate group that got the aggressive actors who got all sarcastic and catty.
Just needed to get this out. Ugh
